Personal Profile

Angela Boardman became NSW’s 29th Premier after the State Election in March 2011.

As well as her duties as Premier, Ms Boardman has assumed the portfolios of Social Inclusion, Water Management and Citizenship.

She was first elected to the New South Wales Parliament in 1993 as the Member for Forestville and has been the member for this seat ever since.

In December 2009 she was elected to the position of opposition leader and was Shadow Minister for Employment and Further Education, Shadow Minister for Youth Affairs and Shadow Minister for Water Sustainability and Climate Change. 

In her first term as Premier, she has held the portfolio of Minister for Social Inclusion, and Citizenship, and at her behest, Minister for Water Management as a recognition of the significance of this issue in the current political and social landscape.

Ms Boardman was born in Bronte, Sydney, and has lived in this city for her entire life.

She lists her hobbies as reading, Jazz music, economic development, law reform, the environment, theatre, and all sports – but is a particularly strong supporter of the Sydney Swans.

Senior Advisor Tom Parnell, BEc, MBA

He had worked previously as Senior Adviser to Angela Boardman in her previous capacity as Opposition leader.

Tom’s prior employment included experience with the Australian Trade Commission, Argon Energy, Borad Limited and a five-year career in sales and marketing with Australian Combined Industries, a major aluminium distribution company in Australia.

Tom enjoys reading, water sports and golf, and is a keen observer of his two young sons’ sporting activities and achievements.
